Bank Holiday Monday
On most bank holiday Monday's we run extra activities for our customers over 12 years old who are riding on regular lessons.
A dressage competition is run usually on Easter Monday, the classes are split between levels of test, then also liveries and customers. We use British Dressage tests and score sheets, giving you your test sheet after the competition with comments on to show how to improve for next time. This has a relaxed dress code for human and horse. The competition starts at 1pm, with the viewing gallery open for spectators. We give you an individual start time, time to warm up on the horse and then ride your test. If you require someone to call the test, one of our staff is available for this. A light hearted, fun way to have a go at dressage if you don't own a horse. £15 per person including horse hire.
We run show jumping days usually at New Year and the end of May bank holiday's. These are not a competition, but allow you to have a go at riding a course of jumps. You are allocated a horse and a start time for your group. Each group has a maximum of 5 in it, riding for around 45 minutes, warming up in walk, trot, canter and over a practice jump several times. Each person then takes it in turn to ride the course of roughly 10 jumps. We have various heights, styles of jumps and fillers to ride over. A really good way to put into practice your weekly training on lessons and have a go at a long course of jumps too. £15 per person including horse hire.
On the August bank holiday, we run a Le Trec competition. We ride in 2 or 3 fields with a minimum of 15 obstacles to complete, from doing jumps, fillers, logs, to riding over tarpaulin, past flying flags, through a narrow gap, under arches, standing in hoops, with a speed test included too and many more. Jumps and other obstacles have different difficult levels, with points awarded for completing each obstacle and which level it is done at. We split classes in to customers and liveries, with rosettes 1-6 in each competition. A good fun, challenging competition, using horse skill, communication and speed. £15 per person including horse hire.
